Nothing says summer like cocktails in the sunshine, and this week Moxy Manchester will be hosting a free cocktail evening with local rum brand, Diablesse Rum. Taking place on Thursday, June 23, guests will have the chance to learn more about the origins of the drink, while sipping on specially curated cocktails.
With plenty of rum to sample throughout the evening, the event will look to showcase three unique Diablesse expressions. Diablesse Caribbean Rum and Clementine Spiced Rum will both be on offer, accompanied by the brand-new Coconut & Hibiscus – the first coconut and hibiscus rum in the world.
Post-event, Moxy Manchester will also be running a special Diablesse Rum summer cocktail menu for one week only, showcasing all three expressions. As the first solely female-owned run brand in the UK, Diablesse Rum is proud to champion female empowerment and equality, and is supporter of the Young Women’s Trust, a feminist organisation working to achieve economic justice for young women.

Rum has been enjoying something of a renaissance in the UK of late, with sales soaring and more people looking to try the liquor in place of gin. Sitting at the heart of the ever-popular cocktail movement, rum featured in five of the top 20 cocktails served in bars and three of the top ten made at home.
Last weekend, rum lovers descended on The Mercure Gardens in Piccadilly Gardens for Greater Manchester’s only dedicated rum festival. A number of brands made their festival debut, while local brands including Diablesse also made an appearance, along with Salford Rum Company, who brought back their popular Rum Map of Manchester in partnership with Salford Lads Club.
On Thursday, The Salford Rum Company opened its first distillery, bar and rum school just off Chapel Street in Salford. Aptly named The Dirty Old Town Distillery after The Pogues hit track, the new venue – nestled in the arches on Viaduct Street – serves a range of rum cocktails and spirit mixes, alongside a regularly changing menu of beers.
The Moxy Manchester hotel collaboration with Diablesse cocktail event takes place on Thursday, June 23, 6-8pm. It is free to attend, and you can register here.
